The Swiss Ornithological Institute is a non-profit organisation and the largest private field research institute in Switzerland. We collaborate with different universities in Switzerland and abroad. The Swiss Ornithological Institute establishes scientific information on bird biology and conservation, disseminates it to the public, media and authorities, and puts it into conservation action. Together with our partners, we are dedicated to improving the natural conditions of birds and wildlife.
The basic framework of the online application "PopMon" was so far developed by an external company on behalf of and in cooperation with the Swiss Ornithological Institute. PopMon is used to record various parameters relevant to population dynamics (e.g. breeding success) and will be further developed at the ornithological station in the future.
Your tasks
- Development of the PopMon web application
- Development of new features/functionalities at database and user interface levels
- Conceptual design, adjustment and implementation of a meta-database solution based on GeoNode
- Conceptual design, development/adjustment of a WebGIS platform to visualize and share data and results
We expect
- Experience in the development of Python/Django applications
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL and PostGIS or another database environment.
- Basic knowledge of HTML, SASS, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery.
