Introduction

For a project at our client`s site, a finance institute in Zurich, we are looking for a Senior Postgres Data Engineer (w/m/d). 

You will be responsible for the design, build, automate and deploy highly available, robust, resilient and secure database solutions.

This project requires a physical presence in Switzerland.

Your responsibilities:

• Works in conjunction with multiple teams to make sure that the infrastructure and the applications that depend on it work harmoniously together
• Document all operational processes and procedures to optimize support and management of deployed systems - demonstrate proficiency in establishing repeatable processes
• Adopt, embrace and promote agile practices
• Contribute towards new and ongoing Technology projects in areas of Scalability, Performance and High Availability and Automation
• Collaborate with Architects, performance engineers and system administrators on database and system optimizations
• Investigate production issues and perform root cause analysis
• Work closely with developers to design, create and maintain schema objects, design and debug triggers, stored procedures and user defined functions
• Monitor and maintain maximum performance of databases

Your profile:

• At least 7 years’ experience as a Postgres DB Engineer with software development and Linux experience
• At least 4 years of experience in designing Database solutions/architecture
• Development skills in Java/Scala and python.
• Strong knowledge of Postgres and Linux(RHEL)
• Experience supporting business-critical production database systems.
• Experience in following areas:
  • DB setup: DB installation, configuration, upgrade, maintenance, patching and security.
  • DB import: Importing data from CSV, other databases and API’s
  • DB intra-source data checks: Checking data consistencies by executing data comparisons between various sources
  • DB monitoring: monitoring the performance of a database (queries, resources, table indices)
• Fluent in English , German skills are beneficial
